**PRIMARY PURPOSE:**

As a Sommelier, you will be responsible for complete knowledge of wine lists, wine and food pairing. You will also set the stage for guest experience with your welcoming smile and service. By understanding their unique stories and needs, you will own their experience to create **WOW** memories they will carry with them far and beyond their stay with us.

**PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**

+ Maintain complete knowledge of wine list, and wine and food pairing

+ Collect money, while following all proper cash handling and comp procedures

+ Clean equipment, tools, and supplies and ensure equipment is in good working order, including cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance of work station

+ Maintain and update cellar/storage inventory according to set pars and internal controls, and request product to maintain stock in designated area

+ Meet regularly with the wine trade to actively seek quality wines for the restaurant wine program as well as evaluate wines and other beverage for potential purchase

+ Eliminate waste by training and supervising employees on wine knowledge, pour levels, proper storage, etc

+ Verify accuracy of wine delivery ordered and received from the main warehouse and return or exchange deliveries when a warehouse error has occurred

+ Maintain appropriate beverage costs by managing purchases and requisitions; place wine requisitions at the end of each service

+ Perform other job-related duties as requested

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:**

+ Knowledge of beverages on menu, including characteristics of wine and champagne by the glass; major wines, designated glassware, terminology, and garnishes

+ Knowledge of health, safety and sanitation regulations and procedures

+ Knowledge of various Point of Sale (POS) devices

+ Excellent customer service skills as well as interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts

+ Knowledge of proper service techniques

+ Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:**

+ High school diploma or equivalent

+ One (1) year of related experience

+ Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays

**PREFERRED:**

+ Four (4) years of service experience in a similar dining environment

+ IP/inventory system experience
