Job Description The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) develops and implements anesthesia and pain care plans, providing a full scope of anesthesia and pain management services as defined by clinical privileges. As part of the Center for Wellness and Pain Care system. Responsibilities: Formulate an appropriate and safe anesthetic care plan for each patient. Provide independent anesthesia care for patients undergoing pain management procedures and pain stimulatorimplants. If appropriate, management of or assisting the physician and staff in the management of any clinical emergency in the surgery center. Participate in planning for peri-operative patient care with physicians and nursing staff. Maintain accurate and complete records of each patient’s anesthesia Alert the person responsible for restocking anesthesia supplies when items are needed. Perform and document the pre-anesthesia assessment and evaluation of the patient. Review laboratory and diagnostic studies. Select, obtain, order, and administer pre-procedural medication and adjuvant treatments. Determine, prepare, and apply non-invasive monitors, supplies, and drugs for the administration of sedation,anesthesia, and pain management services; perform safety checks as needed. Select, order, obtain, and administer analgesic and anesthetic agents, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids, or blood products necessary to provide anesthesia services. Facilitate emergence and recovery from anesthesia by evaluating patient response, and selecting, ordering, and administering medications, fluids, and ventilatory support to maintain patient stability during transfer. Initiate and administer post-anesthesia pharmacological or fluid support of the cardiovascular system. Initiate and administer respiratory support to ensure adequate ventilation and oxygenation in the post-anesthesia period. Evaluate the patient’s response to anesthesia and procedures performed; initiate appropriate corrective action throughout the post-anesthesia period. Provide post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care. Discharge the patient from the post-anesthesia care unit according to facility criteria and protocols. Implement appropriate pain management modalities. Manage emergency situations by assessing, stabilizing, and determining disposition of patients, including providing airway management, administration of emergency drugs and fluids, and instituting basic and advanced cardiac life support techniques and adjuvant therapeutic agents. Provide patient and caregiver education. Perform venous puncture to obtain appropriate blood specimens when indicated. Use an interdisciplinary approach, including consultation or referral to the physician of record and any colleague clinicians, as appropriate. Increased clinical responsibilities may be added as additional education and experience is obtained by theindividual practitioner. Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and an accredited school of anesthesia Must hold a current Registered Nurse license in the state of Nevada Must have current certification by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists Must have current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support Evaluate the patient’s response to anesthesia and procedures performed; initiate appropriate corrective action throughout the post-anesthesia period.
